Housing
Assistance
Jose Gonzalez
worked on commission as a car salesman to support his wife and two
young children. He injured his knee and had to have surgery, so he
was unable to work. Jose applied for disability, but the paperwork
took a long time and he would not receive enough checks to cover his
rent for this month. He tried to explain his situation to his landlord,
but his landlord issued a notice to pay rent or leave the apartment.
Mr. Gonzalez came to the Sacred Heart Housing Assistance office and
applied for help with his late rent. Because he would be able to make
it on his own for that one month, he was approved and he and his family
were able to remain in his home.

people who are facing eviction because they cannot afford their
rent and from people that do not have permanent housing who are
trying to move into a place of their own.
- Assistance is provided on a one-time only basis through a screening
process with our customers to determine why they need assistance
and to make sure that their financial situation is stabilizing
